Was great for years... until it fell apart!

Was great for years... until it fell apart!
I used to love this luggage... Perfect size for a short business trip, fits easily overhead, great maneuverability and light. Wheels are quiet and the luggage stands up straight on its own. I kind of still love this luggage, but I’m disappointed that the handle fell apart. I used it quite often for the past 5.5 years, so you could say I got my money’s worth. But I was under the impression this was higher quality... I’m hoping this is still under warranty.

I just purchased this to temporarily replace a favorite while the zipper is being repaired, based upon the positive reviews here. I used it for the first time this weekend. I must say that I will not be going back to my other luggage. The spinner technology is so far better than the two wheel design that I have used over the years! Before I was either pushing or pulling my luggage. With the spinners on smooth surfaces such as in the Atlanta airport and others, the luggage just glides along beside you, and almost feels like an arm rest whole walking. Now that is a major difference. No back strain, etc. in fact, on the return, I decided not to be bothered with luggage at all and paid the baggage fee. I was almost immediately sorry, because then I had to carry my loaded purse/ipad personal bag, which on the way out had rested nicely atop the luggage. It was heavier than I thought. So I won't do that again. I missed having the luggage with me. On that note, my old luggage was unsteady once I placed my bag on top, but not this one. It stays perfectly upright. On carpet, the spinners have a more difficult time. The luggage fit very easily on the regular sized jets and I could have expanded the pockets. Would have been a tight fit on the commuter jets, which is good that they take them before boarding most times anyway. This luggage is very roomy width and depth-wise, but probably about an inch shorter than my old piece. I do miss having a garment bag, but took the one out of my old luggage and barely squeezed it into this one. Worked perfectly with no ironing to be done upon arrival. Plenty pockets, though it would have been nice to have an extra outside pocket. The one provided is very large and convenient, easily holding travel documents (which I would not want separated from my person) or newspaper, sweater, or in my case, several books. The luggage is very well constructed. What I am amazed about, and a selling point for me is that it is so incredibly lightweight, to still be so sturdy. I purchased the black and still had no trouble identifying my bag amongst others. Very pleased with the purchase, and will definitely purchase more in this line should I need another size. The reviewers before me got it right.

This is a nice roll-aboard for the money. Most of the bag is sturdy / well made. I am a bit suspicious of the telescoping handle, as it feels a bit "rickety" and has more play in it than I would like. I have 3 other roll-aboards and all have telescoping handles that feel more firm than the one on this bag. Other than that, I like the bag. I can fit quite a bit of clothing in it, and there is an option to expand it by opening the expansion zipper. I did not do this on the 2 trips I used the bag for, as that would defeat my purpose for purchasing it . I wanted a bag that would easily slip into most overhead baggage compartments in airplanes, and would pass the strict carry-on sizing that several US regional jets and most international airlines have in place. This bag does just that. The blue is a nice color. The exterior pocket holds my 13" laptop with ease, however, if you have the bag tightly packed it does put stress on this outside pocket and its contents; I have a heavily padded case on my laptop for protection. The bag rolls extremely easily and handles well on tile, less so on concrete, and less so on carpet. It zips down the aisles on the aircraft easily as well, and since it has 4 wheels I can push it ahead of me down the aisle! (I LOVE that!). The 4 skate style wheels seem very sturdy, and the zippers are good quality and sturdy. The biggest negative about the bag is that it does fall over. When I used it, I did have the laptop in the front pocket, so this adds anterior weight, making it even more prone to falling over. However, I think that would happen even without a laptop in the front pocket. This was not a deal-breaker for me, but it was annoying, and I had to learn to make it a habit to put the bag face first toward a wall or table if I left go of the handle,l to prevent the tip overs. Going back to the telescoping handle and my reservations about it's durability, only time will tell. I know if I have any trouble with the telescoping handle in the future, that Travelpro will stand by the product; they guarantee their products. Quite a few years ago I had a well used Travelpro roll aboard in which the telescoping handle stuck and would not fully retract. I contacted Travelpro and they allowed free return of the bag to them at their expense, and replaced my bag with a new one! That is why I stay with Travelpro.

I’m still very happy with this suitcase after many trips. I don’t think I would ever consider buying a suitcase of a different brand. I have two, a large, and a small one. Both are great.

I travel frequently for work and wanted to invest in a carry-on bag that was easy to carry and had a front compartment big enough for my laptop. This suitcase worked great for 1 year - I really do love it's size, weight, compartment options, and the ease of pushing or pulling the bag alongside me. For a year I took it on many trips and always carried it on without problems. I recently took a trip with my 10 month old so we decided to check our bags to give us a little less to handle on the plane. When I got my back from the carousel, one of the wheels had completely broken off. The plastic was shattered with no hope of repairing, even if I could find the missing wheel. I realize the airports aren't the most gentle with bags, but surely this bag should have been able to last the ONE time that I checked it!
